The Wiki Space|W5|
The Wiki Space
Amongst the internet, there are various wiki spaces for
people of all fields to discover and join; a wiki is a site that allows the
users to freely edit or change content as needed. I will be addressing several wiki
spaces and how they can benefit users based on their website format and
ability to allow groups to edit content and share content. On an educational
format, or a more business perspective.
TiddlyWiki (https://tiddlywiki.com/)
TiddlyWiki is a wiki site that allows you to create a notebook of sorts, for organizing your information, either for personal or educational means. It seems more so for a teacher than a student, but someone busy enough could find a way to make use of an organizer at any point. The site has a face with the latest updates and features, allowing you to sort of link directly to the post when they did it, providing more info to those who need it. Due to the open-source format, anyone can upload a community resources/plug-in to increase your efficiency in the app. Or at creating concept maps and creating graphs.
Weebly (https://education.weebly.com/ed-features.php)
Weebly is a more education-based Wiki; you can create
classrooms and student portfolios. The website boasts its protection of
websites, student activity, multimedia features, and flexible features.
Along with it being a free source that any teacher can use in the classroom. Your website's customization is at your fingertips, with the incredibly high
number of designs they have for your domain. They show off the reliable
servers they currently hold for hosting your website(s).
Wikidot(https://www.wikidot.com/more:explore-features)
Wikidot is quite like TiddlyWiki; it offers safety in database
protection and goes for a more professional look for your wiki space/website, whilst
allowing hosting directly from them and controlling your website. It seems to
be for a more professional setting and less of an educational viewpoint on the
website, but it can still be useful depending on what you are looking for. So
while TiddlyWiki and Wikidot offer a more professional or educational route to
making a wiki space, Weebly offers something more for a teaching environment and will probably be more advisable in a classroom setting.
